The Scooter

Smoke billowed out of the exhaust as she gleefully called out, “I’ve driven a car! A scooter should be easy-peasy.”

The wind blew in fragments of her friend’s voice, “One… Way… Wrong… Watch…”

The tire screeched as the entire body wobbled — rider and all meeting the pavement.

Her friend, sweating as though she’d aced the 100-meter dash, appeared and silently thanked her stars for not having a stake in the events. “Really?”
