The First Step

The icy wind flowed in all directions but couldn’t dampen the fire burning in her heart. The frozen lake stretched out ahead, simultaneously challenging and welcoming her. Visuals from her favourite skating movies and heros flashed before her eyes. She tightened her laces, taking her first step towards victory…

CRUNCH!

The sound echoed through the stillness as her bottom met the calm surface of the ice.

“Ouch, should’ve practiced.”

      I’ve noticed I don’t really like colder temperatures too 🙂 (The weather where I’m at is not icy but the temperature has been dipping more & more in the past few years).

    There is some ice that cannot be reasoned with. I hope she’s ok and finds a rail or something to help her along.

    I have a suspicion the “fire burning in her heart” will lift her up and she’ll be on the ice practicing. And before long, she’ll be hooked! (so says this former ice skating wild child 😁)
