A Healthy Halloween

“Move, it’s my turn. You rang the last one.”

Ding… Dong… Ding…

“Trick or treat!” they cried out in unison.

“Guavas or pears?” came the cheerful reply.

As the ghosts contemplated the offering, the homeowner dropped her voice to a whisper, “I have a few apples too; perfect for a healthy Halloween!”

  8. Those apples sound like an ominous treat depending on who the neighbor is and how familiar one is with fairy tales.

    1. I never thought about the fairy tale 🤔 I guess they should really be careful.

  9. We had a neighbor, when the children were little, who gave out shiny new nickels. The kids loved it.

A friend whose father was a dentist gave out toothbrushes every year. He’d tell the kids, you might not want it but your parents will be thankful. In fact, the kids would want to skip his house but parents would demand to see their new toothbrush when they got home so they couldn’t!

    1. Hmm, that’s an impressive idea for a gift (especially to mitigate the effect of candies)

  11. It’s like those people who give out raisins! Bleurgh! Mind you, with the cost of fruit at the moment, I’d be the Mom taking pears with gratitude!
