John is the supreme controller of the Ambyville Park’s flower beds. Every year, kids sneak in to pick carnations for Mother’s Day while he’s busy with a distraction; this year, I’m the ‘distraction’.
“So John, what’s your favourite part of Ambyville?”
“The park, of course; I love my bluebells, roses and lavenders.”
“Not carnations? You seem to grow lots of them.”
“Aye, if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t get to sit with my feet up and drink unlimited lemonade, would I?”
The photo prompt has been given by Na’ama Yehuda at the Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields and the word prompt (Control) was given by Denise Farley for the Six Sentence Stories at the Girlie on the Edge.
I wonder if John is now self the carnations?

It sounds like John planted extra carnations for them to pick.

Sounds like John knows exactly what’s going on and enjoys it as much as the children. I love how much you show without telling it. Layers upon layers.
