The Next Car

“You weren’t able to get a better alternative?”

“Nope, this was the only one I could get considering last week’s fiasco.”

“Makes sense. That one rolled off the road while this one’s not going to roll out of here; Congratulations.”

“Hey, where are you going? We’ve got to push this one home; Come on, help me!

Sometime ago I wrote about how Promila thrashed her car. If you like, you can read about it here. Fortunately (or not), she just got a replacement:

The photo prompt has been given by Russell Gayer at the Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields and the word prompt (Alternative) has been given by Denise Farley at the Girlie on the Edge.

On another note, when I hit the new post button, WordPress gave me a ‘Create a Story Post’ option. Has anyone tried it and where do you see these stories?

  2. I’m with Mason on this one… the next car crash will only happen provided enough effort and determination is brought to bear….

  6. A fixer upper, eh? – a bit like the motorbike which has been languishing in our garage these past 10 years!

    1. On the bright side, that motorbike will probably never get into an accident too.

  8. I’ve not heard about that wordpress option, sorry. I loved your story this week. Reminds me of an old stationwagon my Mom bought for $10 back in the 80’s. Took us almost a year to restore the engine. We drove it for quite a few years before it finally died.

    1. $10 for a car seems like a good deal (if the engine didn’t cost more).

I realised that the story option on WordPress is just weirdly pointless. It’s just there but not as useful as the one on Instagram.

  9. Dear Bernadette,

I had an old Nissan that had to be towed to the dealership to trade it in. I think we can all relate to this story.

    Shalom,

  18. […] I know I’m one sentence over, but I felt that the last one was needed to create an impact. This is kinda, sorta, a continuation of a character, who seems to have terrible luck with cars. You can read one escapade here — The Next Car. […]
