Once there was a scientist who decided to shift to the nearby deserted valley; After that, no one ever heard from him again.
5 Years Later…
“Look!” exclaimed the young explorer pointing to a hut. “But it’s in ruins” replied her companion.
“Well, it’s good enough for shelter, I don’t want to wake up when the storm’s overhead.”
Since they couldn’t find the door, they climbed through a window into what was supposed to be a kitchen. But, instead of peeling walls and dented furniture, they were astounded to see modern innovative machines. They walked towards the other rooms to explore.
It’s been a year since anyone’s heard from them.
Today it’s K for Kitchen.

The photo prompts have been given by Yinglan at the Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers (FFfAW) and by Yarnspinnerr at the Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. The word prompt (wake) has been given by Six Sentence Stories at Girlie On The Edge.
Wow! you’ve put two photo prompts together. Nicely done!

That is really cool – a small hut turns into a mansion once you walk into it. Great story!

Actually hadn’t thought about it that way but I guess anything can be expected in such a place

Cool photos. Was there a time machine inside, perhaps. I love the mystery of it.

Call me chicken, but if I come across a place with no door I am not crawling in through a window… too spooky!

Well it was going to rain. Maybe a doorless house seemed better than soaking wet

Love this mystery. I wonder if it will be another five years before someone else discovers this place. It is kind of funny that just yesterday I listened to a podcast about disappearing people in a desert.

Hmmm. Any mention about that valley?

Interesting take. I think the hut is a portal to the mansion.

Maybe. Thanks for the photo.

I suppose if the explorers’ first impression was that the place was much bigger inside than out, there’s really no limit to how big it might be. It would be rather careless of explorers to get lost, so perhaps they’ve come to a sticky end!

Maybe, I’m as clueless about this as you are

This wonderful tale had me thinking of possibilities… a time machine perhaps, or maybe a portal to another realm? It also reminds me of how deceiving outward appearances can be.

Looks like this is a portal to another dimension. Very intriguing.

I’m with zoe. If there’s no door, no way I’m going to climb through a window lol Heads up people ๐
Captivating 6, nicely done.

I wanted to yell, “Don’t go in the window!” but–well, they probably would have done it anyway ๐

Awesome short story. I am wondering what happens to the explorers … are you going to continue the story? Kitchen photos are so quaint.
